So you want a video…

First of all, thank you for considering Matt and Knight Sky Films to produce video content for you. Rest assured you’re in good hands and Matt has produced, directed, edited and delivered hundreds of hours of television shows and online content.

With clients ranging from national TV networks to small local businesses, Matt brings the same quality and experience to each individual project to ensure you’re left with videos that connects with people.

But enough waffle, you’re here for a price…
I’ll cut to the chase, you’re looking at around £1000 + VAT minimum.
If that shocks you, that’s absolutely fine understandable as not everyone grasps at first what is required to produce videos. I’ll explain further below how we come to that price.

As with all trades and businesses, delivering an individual quote tailored to you varies hugely from project to project. As a result, we factor in 2 things:

1. How long your project will take to complete?
This mainly includes filming and editing – some projects take days to film and can be edited in a few hours. Some are filmed in a day but take a few days to edit, it all depends on the complexity and content of the project. Budgeting for time also takes into consideration travel (we work locally, nationwide and even internationally), pre-production/planning/meetings, how long the end project(s) will be and the deliverables. The deliverables are what’s required. E.g. You require 2 x videos, each 5 minutes long in both landscape and portrait formats.

2. Would there be any additional kit or people required?
Many jobs can be a one-person operation and can still deliver fantastic results. But for more complex videos requiring additional help and camera kit, Matt hires in extra people from his trusted database. This can be someone to simply assist carrying and setting up camera equipment to a second camera operator should you require multiple cameras. Need a specific look to your video? We can deliver that, but it may require hiring in specific kit such as certain lenses or lighting. For most jobs however, we have in-house all the kit required, because frankly, Matt is a camera nerd and collects kit…!

Basic kit included in all jobs includes the following:
– Matt (Filmmaker/Director)
– Camera and 2 x lenses
– Microphones
– Basic light kit

Extra kit such as sliders or gimbals providing those cinematic shots with smooth movement, we have in-house. The more kit required, means more logistics, which may mean additional help for filming mentioned above. Rest assured Matt has spent his whole career carrying bags and bags of heavy kit from location to location. Only when it’s absolutely necessary do we factor in the extra cost for additional crew.

Drone?
That comes with a slight extra cost due to insurance required, usage of the drone and planning the flight accordingly. Each drone flight requires the airspace to be checked and a risk assessment to be carried out. If required we can send you a copy of the RA to you for your records.

Where your money goes:
The basic kit mentioned above is the bare minumum required to produce a high quality video. That kit alone costs around £15,000. Then there’s the editing, the hardware and software required, the hard drives, it all adds up.

What you get:
You’ll be left with video, or a range of videos that are tailored to your brief, delivered on time and that will have a lasting impact on you and/or your business. Video is an incredibly powerful tool for telling stories, for selling a product, for marketing, for getting a point across in a way that other media does not do. It gets you seen, it gets you heard.

If you want your audience to feel something, to connect with something, video delivers this emotion. Joy, surprise, even sadness, empathy, hope and inspiration – such as my work with fantastic local charity Pendleside hospice in their Light Up a Life campaigns.

It opens eyes, minds and educates, – like in my This Is Burnley video which changed people’s pre-conceived perceptions about the town and opened their minds to another side of the area. This caught the attention of the local newspapers, radio and more importantly for me, changed people’s ideas of what they thought they knew. Around 100k views across all platforms.

One of my very first videos here was a short documentary on farmer Gareth Wyn Jones and the struggle he was having with his buried sheep. Footage from this was shown on Sky News and multiple TV channels, and around 50,000 people have watched and connected with it online. This acted as a springboard to Gareth and has since become the go-to person for all rural and farming issues.

If you’ve got a story, we can tell it, with video.
If you’re got a product or business we can market it, with video.
If you’ve got something to say, we can share it, with video.
